Highs

In order to reach the top we have to strive through the uphill struggle.  On a roller coaster the first uphill is slow and you sit listening to the clicking of the gears till inertia kicks in.  The first hill will always be the hardest.  Reaching the top of the first hill changes everything.  After going through all the gears I see the top of the of the first hill as our turning to God.  And the magic of inertia as God leading us through the struggles.  Each hill will make us stronger.  We have to build our 'muscles' in order to reach the top of every new hill.  Once we reach the top and conquered our current problem we tend to fall away from God.  Instead while we are close to God we should be asking him to prepare us for the next up/down hill.  Over the summer at camp I was introduced to this verse that has turn into my prayer, "Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true.  With thanksgi...

The Lows

Image
The past weeks have been crazy.  I have wanted to post but days fly by so quickly.  Anyways...       As you read through Psalm 119 you see a lot of repetition.  The psalmist brings us through his life as a Christian.  We see the highs and lows, but we also see something that is constant.  His reliance on scripture is constant.  He ends the psalm by saying "I have strayed like a lost sheep.  Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands."  It is difficult to not get caught up in our daily struggles.  Through these past weeks I have experienced some low moments, but I have never felt closer to God.  Samuel Smiles puts the idea of lows poetically into words, "The battle of life is, in most cases, fought uphill: and to win it without a struggle were perhaps to win it without honor.  If there were no difficulties, there would be no success: if there were nothing to struggle for, there would be nothing to be...

Four Days in the life of Liz

This week wasn't too eventful.  The most out of the norm thing this week was my TB screening to volunteer at the Hospital.  Like I said last week I am not the best at writing my post on time.  I am getting into a new grove and once I am in my grove I should be better. Monday is the day I go the TB protein injected for the test and it was read on Wednesday.     I also had my regular classes Monday and Wednesday. Tuesday and Thursday are my at home days I had a history test Tuesday and I had to read a biography on George Washington. This week wasn't to crazy.  Wednesday was my craziest day with school and then the TB reading, then I drove David a back and forth from youth. As you go into this week think about why you do things or who you do them for.  "Why we do something is far more important that what we do" " But the  Lord  said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. ...
