Lean on Me
Like any team a family should encourage and support one another. Supporting and encouraging goes hand in hand. These past two weeks have taught me the value of a supportive and encouraging family. I started taking classes at the local community college. My family encouraged me through taking placement test to get into college. During these past two weeks my brothers have been supporting me by simply doing my chores while I am studying, as I adjust to my new schedule.
Webster's 1828 Dictionary defines encouragement as "The act of giving courage, or confidence of success." Simply doing your siblings chores when they are busy. Gives them some support and the valuable gift of time. Challenge yourself to get to know what makes your family members happy or peaceful. Small things make a big difference.
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11
The challenge with encouraging one another is that you can't easily encourage unless your cup is full. During our time in the RV I wanted to encourage my family but I was constantly beating myself up so my cup was empty. Which made it hard for me to encourage them when I was so low. Our goal is to have a cup overflowing with love and encouragement. The only way to get this is by voicing your sadness to a loved one, and running back into our father's arms through scripture and prayer. Look up encouraging quotes and lean on your family for support.
"Never look down on someone, unless you are helping them up."- Jessie James
Finally when pursuing to encourage one another means that you can't discourage them as well. As siblings we tend to tease each other. Maybe even name call, or point out each others flaws. I am on hundred percent guilty of doing all these things to my siblings. To encourage each other every day we have to magnify there strengths not there weaknesses. Remembering that as families we may not have it all together but together we have it all.

Through the past weeks I have been blogging about family and the importance of being unified. Communication, teamwork, and encouragement are what bond a family together. I learn more each day on my role as a daughter, sister, and friend. Life is hectic take it moment by moment and try to learn something in between.
This post is the last in my 'We are Family' series (another will come like it eventually) but I will be posting about success next week.
