Hopeful Hair
Hopeful Hair has been a dream of mine for about a year. It is a newly opened Etsy business, that sells hair accessories. Currently, I am just selling knit (stretchy) headbands. Every time someone buys a headband a headband goes to a homeless woman. The first "outreach" event is through Dress a Girl Around the World. My church and I are working on making dresses for little girls. In our shipment of dresses, I am sending headbands to the precious little girls. I would like to share with you real quickly how it all started.
One evening last spring, right after I got my license I was driving to youth group. As I approached a stop light I saw a mother and daughter standing on the side of the road asking for money. Driving alone and afraid to stop I started thinking of ways I could help. Many came to mind but didn't fit my talents. Then someone complemented the headband I was wearing, and it came to me. I made the headband on my head and it had been my go-to on lazy, and hot Florida days. I knew that I could spread joy through a small circle of fabric. In turn, I thought of ways to do just that. I knew that moving to North Carolina would mean I would lose my job of babysitting. I couldn't fund my new idea that way. Then I discovered Etsy and decided to give it a try. Hopeful Hair has been on Etsy since November 2015 and has sold three headbands. I know that isn't a bunch but I also know that even if the Etsy doesn't work out I plan on continuing to spread hope and love through the simple things I like headbands and dresses.
There is so much that we can do with our time. For a while now I have been trying to figure out what I was supposed to do to spread the love of God. For now, I have found my ministry. I hope you all will join me in pray for these precious little girls, and the homeless around the world.
I would like to urge all of you to check out Hopeful Hair on Etsy and even like it on Facebook if you feel so inclined. Thank you!
