Look up is a very amazing, empowering, and view changing video about social media directed, written and created by Gary Turk. Watching the video you are struck with the reality that our "social media" is really making us unsocial. It takes away the face to face conversations, and our ability to communicate. Social media allows people to know what you are doing but not who you are. We have energy but instead of doing something productive we just sit around doing mind less activities on our phones or computers. The ultimate challenge of the video is to learn to co-exist or have the time spent on your social networks and video game be very limited. Instead read a book, clean, exercise, go out side, the list can go on and on. I am so guilty of this too but we just can't be a generation of idiots, smart phones and dumb people.
Take up the challenge that the video displays look up from your smart phones and take in the display. Take in your soundings an make the most of today. Be there in every moment! Give life attention don't waist all your time staring at some invention. Give people your love and not your like, go out into the world and leave distractions behind.
On the 14th of January, I volunteered to lead the Children's Ministry team of our trip. This means I am in charge of planning the "VBS" for the children. Basically this trip has made me very busy. I am still so overwhelmed and it still feels so unreal. I leave in 3 weeks, it's bizarre!! I have been learning lots of French and so much about the culture in the Bahamas. There are so many amazing traditions there. God has truly been challenging me as I prepare for this trip. Twenty- three days to go until I am in Spanish Wells. I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me.
Do your prayers align with God's plan? When our prayers get answered it isn't always what we want to hear. To pray that God leads you to the right decision without getting your emotions/opinions involved has always been difficult. God recently closed a door I had been praying about and I really wanted it to be an open door. As Christians we are told to pray without ceasing. Prayers aren't merrily us asking for things we want or need help with. Prayer connects us to God, just like any relationship you need good conversation. We are supposed to pray challenging/scary prayers. I prayed one intimidating praying over these past couple of months. I prayed that God would lead Teen Pact (a program for teens to learn about government and leadership) to the correct decision to choose me to staff or not. I also asked Him to prepare me for the opening or closing of this door. The door close...
College, a journey we’ve all been looking forward to, yet one of the biggest decisions of our lives. You start to google to find out what options you have, before you know it you are lost. Lost in the long list of all the different school, the pressure seams to build and you don’t even know what you want/need anymore. If your smart or gifted then schools “fight” for you, if your average (like me) then you got to roll with the punches and find the school for you. As I go about finding my college, I now know that I won’t be attending a Christian college and here is why. Being a Christian is so much more than following a religion and set of “rules” brought on by a church. It is the following Christ in every aspect of our lives, and I feel that we have lost that in many ways as a Christian community. Why would I go to a school when I don’t agree with all that they believe in? From the experiences I’ve had in the past I know that any school/org...
