Look Up

Image
Look up is a very amazing, empowering, and view changing video about social media directed, written and created by Gary Turk.  Watching the video you are struck with the reality that our "social media" is really making us unsocial.  It takes away the face to face conversations, and our ability to communicate.  Social media allows people to know what you are doing but not who you are.  We have energy but instead of doing something productive we just sit around doing mind less activities on our phones or computers.  The ultimate challenge of the video is to learn to co-exist or have the time spent on your social networks and video game be very limited.  Instead read a book, clean, exercise, go out side, the list can go on and on.  I am so guilty of this too but we just can't be a generation of idiots, smart phones and dumb people. Take up the challenge that the video displays look up from your smart phones and take in the display.  Take in yo...

Live and Learn

Image
"Live as if your were to die tomorrow.  Learn as if you were to live forever."  Ghandi  We all know and are faced with the fact that there is one certainty in life and that is death.  The end of our life's is just around a corner yet we don't know witch one.  As so many people have said in there individual ways "live as if you were to die tomorrow."  Eminem has said "The truth is you don't k now what is going to happen tomorrow.  Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed."  Witch is how he is expressing the same message.  Live every day through the pain the bumps and bruised with a smile on you face.  Don't we all want to finish this crazy ride with tons of memories a moment for each day that we laughed, found joy in the middle of our pain, or one moment when you pursued you dreams.  Every second counts don't plan on there being a tomorrow.  Matthew 6:33-34 "   But seek first his kingdom  and his righteousne...

Wonder and Stop Wandering

After spending a wonderful and beautiful week in the Bahamas serving and loving everyone.  I came back and lost my ability to wonder and to be amazed.  Honestly it’s hard to be amazed here at home because everything is the same the sky isn't filled with stars at night, and I no longer wake up to the noise of wave crashing on the shore.  I have still been amazed each morning when I wake up and continue to digest all that I learned in the Bahamas.  Never before has a group of people made this huge of an impact on my life.  God has opened my eyes to the fact that he is not only working in the Bahamas but he is working right where I am at too.  He is teaching me to learn own to wonder and not wander .  For his beauty shows up here to, although it definitely shows up in different ways.  Seeking to find his beauty, I am challenging myself to write down three beautiful God-things each day, whether those are actions or actual scenes in nature.  Let’...

Good Bye Blackwood

Today was our last day in Blackwood I miss all of the children so much already.  It is unsubscribe how much I have learned thus far this week.  I am overwhelmed by love everyone both here in the Bahamas and everyone on my team is so loving.  My heart literally broke when I was saying good bye to all of the Blackwood kids.  We taught all of the children dental hygiene today and I got to help a wonderful girl named Eslaine with her essay.  I have made so many wonderful life time memories and some amazing friends.  Tomorrow is our last day and our free day so I am very excited to make some last minute memories.  I can not even describe what has gone on this week in the Bahamas.  Posted via Blogaway

Super Sundays

Today has been absolutely bazaar.  I just got home and I want to sleep so I am going to make this post quick.  We attended the local church service with the Boykins it was really cool and I learned alot.  Everyone is so nice and all the elderly women just wanted to give all of our team members hugs.  After church my house of girls went out to lunch and took a very fun adventure around the island.  One of the coolest things about Spanish Wells is you drive around in golf carts.  They don't need cars because the island is so small.  I can't believe there is only two days left.  I have connected with some wonderful young ladies and I wish I could stay here and help them each day.  Some of the girls have really opened up to me and they don't want me to leave.  I have pushed into some very difficult situations and I can't wait to see them all play out tomorrow.  Good Night!  I miss everyone so much. Swimming @ Preachers Cave

Our days have been really long starting at 7 and not ending till at least midnight.  We taught the Bahamian about personal hygiene.  It was eye opening to hear some of the questions they asked.  Most of them also got excited just to wash their hands.  I taught four girls how to swim and five how to float today.  It was so amazing to see their smiles and know that they feel safer now being able to swim.  We have been jumping off of new things each day today we also went to the blue hole.  Which is basically a very deep hole that you can jump into it looked really scary.  Once we came back to our homes we had some free time so we went to go get smoothies and walk the beach.  Then dinner tonight was so good we had fresh lobster that was caught today it was so extraordinary.  After debrief we played games and had dance parties.  I am so tired and need lots of sleep before a long day tomorrow.  Good Night!
